Winter Blitz Collection day 2

Welcome to day 2 of our Winter Blitz collection with Camellias! Jewels of the winter greenhouse, stars of Southern gardens, and the state flower of Alabama. Camellias are a symbol of passion, desire and refinement. Marcy was inspired by the Camellias from the gorgeous collection at the Linnean House of the Missouri Botanical Garden.

My Camellia's today are delicately colored with soft yellows and green. I found this picture on Pinterest that was just perfect for my inspiration. After the flowers were colored I cut very carefully around the image and added dimensionals to the back.

Then just added a few things to the kraft card stock panel with some flourished pearls and tied a ribbon bow around with a button twine center. A Spellbinders decorative frame for the base and voila!

Winter Blitz Collection Day 1

Good morning! Are you all sick of turkey left overs yet?  Not me! I made extra rolls just for those warm turkey sandwiches. YUMO!  Well at Power Poppy we are in the mist of our Winter Blitz fun with the new Digi collection Winter Pick -Me-Up! Imagine poking around a chilly pasture, gathering plump stems of snowdrops, crocuses with their grass like foliage, all intertwined with the puffy catakins of pussy willow branches. If the thought of this alone isn't a "pick me up" in the middle of winter, I don't know what is.

This Winter Pick Me Up is a  beautiful and delicate drawing that Marcy has once again blown me away with. My creation today is a longer card where I used three of the Digi images side by side. They are colored with various Copic markers. I added a decorative Spellbinders frame around the edge popped up on dimensionals. Scattered some glitter around the edges and added a few pearls to the centers of each edge. I also added the Digi Sentiment "You are in my thoughts always" with a pearl edge. Voila!

Black Friday News....

The graphic above tells all the details about the first ever sale at Power Poppy which kicks off the holiday shopping season.  You’ll notice it applies to clear stamps only, no digital stamps or gift cards.  Did I say gift cards?  Yes!  Power Poppy has gift cards available, and you can find them here.

Thanksgiving Winner and note

Gobble Gobble! Happy Thanksgiving! Before I get to my post today I would like to announce the winner of my Calendar girl post. And the winner is.....

Congrats Debbie! Email me your snail mail addy to (  Twinshappy 1 @ yahoo . com )  and I will get your goodies out to you. I enjoyed reading what everyone is thankful for this year. I am very thankful for another wonderful year of good health for us and the boys. God has blessed us in more ways than we deserve this year. He is very faithful indeed.

Today my card is using a PSX stamp that I do not own, but my sweet friend Leslie sent a few images to me. She stamped out the image on two different types of white paper. I am looking into changing the white card stock that I use. The problem is I am very picky on the whiteness of my paper for obvious reasons if you come to my blog.  :-)  This one is on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. Very close in the white hue to my existing paper and for Copics this worked really good I think for coloring. What do you think? I colored the wreath and then die cut in Spellbinders circle. Layered onto some card stock die cut in another Spellbinders shape and added a sentiment with a button corner. Easy Peasy today.

The rolls are all prepped and rising, the turkey is in the oven and all the trimmings are getting their share of attention today when it gets closer. I hope that you and your family have a very blessed day of Thanksgiving and Praise! God bless!

Thanksgiving Prep and Black Friday sales

Happy Thanksgiving eve day! ;-)  It really seems like the day is two with all the prepping one must do the day before. Here was my morning counter as I began the prepping this morning.  Side not: You do see a blank wall in the back still from our home renovation, because I have yet to find what I want placed on the wall. The hunt is still on as they say. Anyways, back to the morning I had.  My husband requested this year that I make a pumpkin pie. Not a variation of pumpkin pie such as in the past my pumpkin delight, pumpkin moose cheesecake, pumpkin roll, pumpkin crunch etc. Just a regular ole pumpkin pie. Well that might seem simple to you but I have never actually made just a pumpkin pie. GASP!!!  Someone else has always made the pie and I make other desserts. So this year I am making my first one. I did buy a rolled pie crust for this since I am not really sure how this pie is made. Sounds simple yes I know but sometimes the easy ones are harder to make.  ;-)  Moving on...

Next is my stuffing bread you see in the bowl. I cube up my own bread combo of white and wheat for the stuffing mixture. There is sausage and spices that make it so delish. This coming from a girl who never ate stuffing as it was a mushy mess to me. A few years ago I found the most delish stuffing (can't find it online now) that I use each year and I actually eat! We brine out turkey the day before with oranges, lemons, Thyme, rosemary and water. The juiciest turkey even the white meat you will EVER eat I promise you. Then we have our frog eye salad that the boys love. This has this tiny Anci pasta that you soak in pudding, mandarin oranges and pineapple over night. Add the rest the next day for a delish fruit salad. Can't forget your cinnamon rolls that are the snacks to hold you over until the big day. And lastly the breakfast casserole that is different every year just for fun. Now are we ready for thanksgiving? ha!!!

Now for the important info:

Christmas Wreath

This months Dirty Dozen challenge is an inspiration piece. If your fan club member come check it out and play along. If you are not yet a fan club member now is the time to join!

There is something about wreaths that I just really like. I dusted off this older wreath and colored away. After I cut around the wreath and the center to pop it up on dimensionals on the base. And I know what your thinking, she is totally addicted to the Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One and the sequins. I AM!!! Just can't help it, however I will try to keep myself away from these dies for a little bit. But no promises.  :-)  Finished it off with a little bit of sparkle on the holly and added my sentiment. Voila!

Time is running out to enter the Miss July entry. :-)  Have a wonderful day.

FS407 Snowman fun

This weeks Featured Stamper 407 is Cheryl aka Cheryl l Rowley!  Cheryl has a fantastic gallery with loads of creativity. Hard to choose what to case but I finally decided on My Favorite Mo Image to case. I kept with the over all layout, a snowman, plaid like background and changed stamp, colors added ribbon and button bow.

I adore this snowman from Whipper Snapper called Snow is Overrated. He is stamped on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. I die cut the main image with Spellbinders Circles and layered onto Decorative Labels Thirty Four cut in lavendar card stock. Tied a ribbon with a button twine combo and snowflakes die cut with added button. Of course you can't forget a little bit of glitter on the snow, and voila! Hope you enjoy your week Cheryl!

Scored a border around the edge and layered onto some kraft card stock that I dry embossed with snowflakes then layered onto a white base. Wrapped some silver sheer ribbon around and tied into a bow. Am I crazy or what? You decide!

Again this year I am in the mist of creating gift tags for DH employees along with a few others. Total of 48 this year. GASP!!! Crazy???? Do you remember last years tags? You can see them HERE. These are much simpler in design for two reasons. First I am making a bunch more than I did last year and lets just be honest. Most of his employees are men and they probably cared more about the goodies than the tag.  :-)  Just being honest. Second the goodies I bought last year were not at the local Christmas bizarre this year. So this year I am going to make goodies, I don't mind making the goodies. With larger groups it is easier to just buy them, however never fear I have two new goodie recipes to try! Just what I need two more delicious goodies to have in my recipe books. ha ha!  Onto my tag...

Not as many layers to this one or nearly as much coloring. This is Hello Snowman from WOJ that is stamped on white card stock and die cut using Large Nested Tag Die light. I did add some snowflake textures to the garden green tag base. Also switched out the green button for red ones as you see on the table below. They stood out a bit more in the red I think. Sponged around the sentiment tag and added a Snowflake Trio die light! Here is a picture as I am all ready to color and assemble. This year I cleaned up before I took the photo.  :-)

Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your day!

Happy Couple

I have to tell you I bought this stamp for two reasons. First it is totally cute and makes me think of my sweet husband.  :-)  Second is the totally fun name, Mercedes & Benz! How fun is that name for a stamp? It was a must have just for those reasons alone. hee hee

They are stamped on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. They are sharing a scarf as you can see or you an color it where they each have their own. I liked it as one.  ;-)  Very simple design and layers for this card today. The card base has a Spellbinders die cut using A2 bracket Borders One. I also did an edge with the same set for the designer paper to match up. Two sequins for the corner and tied my sentiment off with a button and silver cord combo. Voila!  Enjoy today everyone!

FS406 There's Snow love

Happy Sunday! This weeks Featured Stamper 406 is Audrie aka geekgirl101. Fun user name and an even funnier gallery. Went with a Christmas card for  my case today and choose this Better Get Warmed up card to case. I kept the colors, layout and Christmas. Changed the stamp, added a a textured background and silver cord with sequins accents. Enjoy your week Audrie.

My card is using a stamp from a kit that is no longer available, however you can get this snowman in Digi format called Hello Snowman. Mine is stamped on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. I cut around the edges and popped him up on dimensionals. Added swiss dots textures to the top portion and wrapped silver cord around the center. A few sequins (I do adore those right now) and sparkle to finish the card. Voila! I hope you get a chance to play along today! Have a wonderful day.

Step 6:

Here is my final cookie box decorated. The designer paper is Christmas Collection 2014 from ODBD.  I added some silver balls, sequins, silver cord and sparkles for the final touches. Enjoy your new cookie box.

ODBD A Miracle Birth Looking back

Welcome to Our Daily Bread designs November Rewind. This release was super fun and you can see all the goodies HERE at the store. Be sure to check out the ODBD Blog for all the DT creations in one post. Now for my projects...

You knew I was going to come out with a blue and white creation, right? hee hee  I used silver embossing on the large star from His Birth, then die cut using ODBD Custom Sparkling Stars. The gorgeous silver sparkly paper is from the new Winter Collection 2014 paper pack. Added some lace trim to the bottom and some silver ribbon tied into a bow. My sentiment from His Birth is stamped and die cut onto ODBD Custom Vintage Flourish Pattern die and sponged with caramel ink. Voila!

Next is a fun and awesome gift for anyone, a cookie box! This box is a larger deeper box and can hold about 2 dozen cookies if you stack them right, or 1 1/2 if you randomly stack them. I have a tutorial called Cookie Box if you would like to create your own. Very basic box, but the outside is super special. I used turquoise ink and stamped the star from His Birth onto white card stock and then die cut using ODBD Custom Sparkling Stars die. Layered that onto pink card stock and then cut around the star. A white base behind the star using ODBD Custom Elegant Ovals that I layered onto some of the dreamy new Christmas Collection 2014 pattern paper. A few more of the Sparkling stars for the corners with a few ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage swirls and some sequins. There is hints of sparkle all over if you enlarge the photo. Below is a photo of the cookies inside. I like the box to be reused if they want so I put wax paper in the bottom to keep the moisture off the paper. Voila!

Give thanks

Good morning! Today I dusted off an older stamp set that is retired. While looking through stuff I  found my two retired PSX stamp sets that I will ink up this week too. Leslie got me to thinking about my older sets after I saw her gorgeous wreath. Doesn't Leslie have remarkable coloring skills? I want to be her when I grow up!  :-)  I should try to find that wreath on Ebay and get it, but it would be another stamp to dust off I guess.  Anyways, back to my card today. I was in the fall mood and found this older stamp.

Stamped the image on white card stock and colored with various Copic markers. Wanted some layers to this card as the person it is for loves lots of extra's on her cards. The layers are using Radiant Rectangles in a ivory card stock and a creamy brown. Added a ribbon bow to the corner of the sentiment panel and voila!  Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day.

Ding Dong merrily on high

Good morning! I heard the first Christmas song played in the store this week. Oh my.... Not that I mind, but the actual Christmas decorations were out before Halloween for crying out loud. They get earlier and earlier every year. I like to create cards and gifts all year long but there is a line I draw for some of it.   :-)  My husband would beg to differ so we won't ask him! hee hee  Anyways... onto my creation today.

This is from Crafter's Companion called Christmas Carols. I think this mouse is so sweet with his music singing. He is stamped on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. My ever so talented friend Leslie created a super cool border with these Spellbinders dies, so I recreated it on this card. You can see Leslie's gorgeous creation HERE.  My designer paper is from Doodlebug Design Frosty Friends paper pack. Wrapped some ribbon around the base and tied off a button twine combo for the sentiment tag. Added some stickles to her fur coat and some sequin for fun. Voila!

Copper Christmas

A week or so ago I created a side fold card that was trimmed down so you could see the inside when closed. These are fun and a little different for the person who receives the card so I created another one using ODBD Sparkling Stars. I have had this copper shimmery paper in my stash for ever and thought it paired perfect with the new Winter 2014 Collection paper pack. Wrapped some copper like sheer ribbon down the side with some copper sequins for accents. Voila!

FS405 Christmas Stars

This weeks Featured Stamper 405 is Amy aka Amyk3868. Crafty gallery and lots of inspiration to choose from. I choose this Bright and Beautiful card for my case. Kept with the over all layout, Christmas theme and stars. Changed the colors, stamp and added a textured background. Enjoy your week Amy!

The only stamping on this card is the actual sentiment. How fun is that? My stars are actually using the ODBD Custom Sparkling Stars die using the new Winter 2014 paper collection. After my stars were die cut, I scored them from each tip to the center to create this 3D look t them. The stars have added stickles for a shimmer look to them after I glued them to the card base. Wrapped some silver cord around the bottom and added my sentiment. Voila!
