Going for the bold

Happy Friday! This beautiful new Digi called Pure Prairie Bouquet was just released a bit ago. Wow, right!!!
I wanted to go bold in my colors for this one with red, one of the hardest colors for me to use. Why not give it a try.  :-)
May have had this a little too large as the stitched die was the largest one in the set to cut this out. However makes for an easy card with just a few accents using sequins. I did add some sparkle to the petals on the flowers. You can never had too much sparkle. hee hee

Stamped my sentiment from Nice Things to Say and created a tag tied off with a button and some twine. Voila!

Thanks a melon

Good morning. We have some hot hot weather right now, like triple digits. EEK!!!  Needless to say the coach has the football practices super early in the morning or late at night to avoid the heat. We are gearing up for the football season and being that the boys are freshmen this year, its even more exciting. I know... Freshmen. EEK!!! They are pretty excited. Anyways... my card today is using an old retired set.

I stamped the watermelon on white cardstock and colored with various Copic markers. Some tightly wrapped gingham paper that was in the stack I am trying to use more of on cards.  A few brads scattered on the image panel and a button with twine to finish it off. Voila! I made this for a friend as we went to Applebee's and had the grilled watermelon shrimp salad and it was tasty!  ;-)  Enjoy your day!

Hello

Is he just not adorable or what? I found this little digi guy on Pinterest long ago and finally got it printed so I could play with him. He is super cute don't you think? He is printed on white cardstock and colored with various Copic markers. Scored around the image panel and then created a stitched frame to be behind his panel.

Added a strip of designer paper from the same pack to the back and then a few pearls and some sparkles on his nose. Voila!
Thanks for stopping by today.

My flowers were stamped and colored with various Copic markers and the layered onto some yellow and blue cardstock that I die cut using a Spellbinders edge. Wrapped some ribbon and twine using a button at the top. There is sparkle added to the petals on each flower because you can never have too much sparkle. hee hee  Voila!

You're something else..

Wow!!! Have you seen all the sneak peeks the last few days of our Nature and Nurture Collection? Start back over on the Power Poppy Blog if you missed anything, you won't be disappointed. What an array of fall feeling cards and creations.

Today is the last sneak peek with Feeling Fall! Check out the fun and inspiration from Marcy on the Power Poppy Blog

This was such a fun boot to color! These leaves are awesome and such variety of colors if you went early fall, middle or late fall. What fun! Simple design with this green designer paper under the white panel textured with swiss dots. Scored around the boot image panel and added some enamel dots scattered about. I then stamped, colored and cut around two extra leaves in the set to help my sentiment that is stamped on vellum stick to the card. Vellum is hard to stick to a card without seeing the adhesive. Some sparkle to the leaves and voila!

Today is going to be.....

Welcome to day two of our Nature and Nurture collection release at Power Poppy! If you missed the start head on over to the Power Poppy Blog for details about the other sets along with our new one today called In Praise of Sunflowers! Woot Woot!!!! If you didn't own the digi version already you will HAVE to own this set! What a display of fall feeling design.

Recently I have been making a large attempt to use more of the designer paper that I have had forever. Usually I purchase it as it is so pretty and then don't seem to use most of it only one or two sheets. So here is another one that is from a pack of fall colored designs that was perfect for these sunflowers I thought. I stamped the vase of sunflowers on white cardstock and colored with various Copic markers. Die cut with a stitched rectangle and layered over this blue and chocolate panel. For fun stamped the sentiment along the side to finish off the circle part of the sentiment. Added some enamel dots and stickles to finish it off. Voila!

Best way to cheer yourself up

Good morning! Are you ready for Power Poppy's newest release called Nature and Nurture collection? Yep we have a beautiful new array of clear stamps coming to you, so grab some coffee or tea and sit back for some sneak peeks.

First up is Prairie Cheer. Marcy has some wonderful insight behind this new set over on the Power Poppy Blog! Be sure to check it out.

This is one of the sentiments in the set and it makes my heart swoon. I adore it! First stamped the single flower and then die cut the stitched frame and colored the bloom. Stamped the sentiment in the corner and added a touch of sparkle to the petals. Just a few buttons with twine wrapped through them for the accent. Voila!

Hooray for Cammie

Happy Friday and another week with a chance to win some Power Poppy goodies! The Power and Spark Challenge this month is all about C.S.I. Copy, Steal and Inspire. Cammie aka Sweet Violets Paperie blog has a wonderful bouquet of flowers that we perfect for casing this week. Here is her Feeling Happy card I cased.

My creation kept the same image Countryside Bouquet deluxe, the over all sketch and similar colors. Instead of the die cut with holes around the border of the image panel I went with some piercing instead. Changed my colors to a springy pink and orange. Stamped my sentiments from Nice Things to Say onto tags and tied them off with a button and ribbon instead of the flower Cammie used. Added a few enamel dots and some sparkle. Voila! Thanks for the inspiration Cammie! Can't wait to see what you all create!

Birthday hair

Happy birthday to me! Hee hee  Well it was this weekend but this is one of the things I granted myself for a gift.  ;-)  This is Bad Hair Day from Sassy Cheryl's. Isn't he adorable? What a joy to color too. He is printed large to fit this 5x5 size card. A pierced border around his image panel layered on kraft cardstock.

Trying to find use of all my designer paper that I must use at some point. Usually that is a problem for me but I am trying at every turn. Added some very old CTMH hardward to the bottom right corner and my sentiment to the top left. Voila! Have a great day!

Apple Hugs

Good morning! How about some hugs from some awesome apples designed by the wonderful Marcy? We released a remixed digi last Friday called Apples in Season. What a joy to color, but what isn't when it comes to Marcy's handy work.  :-)

It has been a few weeks since I cut out an image and these apples were asking to be cut around. They are colored with various Copic markers. The die cut frame is from an old Spellbinders die set that I forgot the name of, sorry. Before I removed the paper from the die I lightly sponged some caramel ink to the base.
My sentiment is from Nice Thing to Say stamped to the right of where I popped up the apples. A few scattered pearls to finish it off. Voila! Hope you have a fabulous day!

C.S.I.for Melanie

Happy Friday! I bet you thought someone was in trouble with that title, right?  hee hee   Not really, but our hostess this month Miss Julie is excited for this months Power and Spark challenge.

Here’s the basics on the challenge:  Power Poppy is going all “C.S.I.” this month. No, it’s not what you think. We’re not on the case – we ARE CASE-ing. We are challenging YOU to Copy, Steal, Inspire! All you need to do is pick a Power Poppy creation somewhere in blog land by any designer and be inspired by it. Then, create your own spin on the original design! Just that simple!

When I had time looking around at creations to case I found some beautiful cards, gift sets and gifts to feast my eyes on. We have some awesome PP fans out there!  I finally choose this card It's Your Day by Melanie aka tuppenceandbob to case. Melanie's card is beautiful and soothing with the creams and soft brown colors. The lace trim and butterflies are awesome touches as well.
For my case, I kept the colors similar, the same flower (Simply Camillas) and added mesh ribbon instead of the lace trim. Instead of pearls I used sequins accents and also changed from ovals to stitched rectangles using Lil Inkers dies. Voila! Thanks for the inspiration Melanie! Hope you can play along this month.

Square Box Two

Supplies:

Cardstock, designer papers, scissors, cutting mat, adhesive, desired dies (shown Spellbinders Grand Labels) scoring tool.

Step 1:

Cut a piece of solid cardstock 7 3/4 inch width x 7 3/4 inch length. Score at 6 3/4 on all four sides. Snip the ends to form the box. Add adhesive and form box base. Set aside for now.

Step 2:

Cut a piece of matching cardstock 2 inch width x 10 1/2 inch length. Score at 1 1/2, 2 7/16, 8 1/4 and 9 5/16. Here I pre-folded the score lines for you to see

Step 3:

Die cut large Grand Label in matching cardstock. Decorate box flap if desired. I have added designer paper to match the inside of the box base

Step 4:

Take the flap piece and add adhesive to the end piece that measures 1 1/2. Adhere close to the edge of the die cut piece as shown. I place the box over the die cut panel to line it up and then added adhesive so it was snug

Step 5:

Add adhesive to the 1 inch scored portion on the flap and the rest of the box base BUT, don't go directly to the edge and leave a 2 inch gap on the right as shown. This is where we will tuck our end flap into the box to secure the contents.

Step 6:

Add the box base and secure to die cut panel as shown

Step 7:

Fold the flap over and secure under the right side. You can snip the ends of the flap (shown on the right) if you want. Or in my case I didn't leave enough room with the glue so I had to snip the ends. EEK!   ;-)

Step 8:

Now you can open and close as you add cards. Finish decorating as desired.

Step 9:

My final gift box using Lilac Time for my cards. The sentiment panel I added is from Nice Things to Say. Added a button and a few pearls to the inside cards. Enjoy!

Lilac Square Box Two

Good morning! As promised I have another gift box tutorial done and ready to share with you called Square Box Two. I know real original in the name, but it works. hee hee  This is for square cards (5x5) and is a self closing box with a flap. You can find the tutorial HERE. My sentiment on the front is using Nice Things to Say stamp set with a button accent. I sponged around the sentiment while the die was still on the paper.

Only have one card done for the box as of now but you get the idea. The stamp set is called Lilac Time. The designer paper matches this first card and not sure if I plan to have it all match as a set or just random cards. I guess we will see as time goes on. A Spellbinders die cut edge for the bottom of the card front and a few added pearls to the card.

I like that this box has a flap so that you can open and close if you wish. There are several other boxes that I have with different options. Check out SweetandClassic.com for more ideas and be on the look out for more to come.  Thanks for stopping by.

Joy to the World

Happy Monday and welcome to the Dirty Dozen August Christmas challenge. This month we have a wonderful Inspiration piece for you to be inspired from. Hope you can play along this month. You can find out challenge HERE

This was a great photo and oh so many options I came up with. Here is my first idea using Pinecones along with the wrapped present idea. After my image was colored and the sentiment from Luke 2:11 stamped they were die cut using ODBD Elegant Ovals. My designer paper was layered onto some dark chocolate cardstock and wrapped with bakers twine for the present on the photo. Layered onto some kraft cardstock and pearls added for accents. Hopefully I can get to my other ideas this week as I do like this photo. Thanks for stopping by today!
