Hearts and Flowers Sneak Peek

Welcome to day one of Flourishes January Sneak Peeks. I have a few projects I would like to share with you today. In hopping through the DT blogs today we are going to be showing you the set called Hearts and Flowers. My first creation is a Tissue Cover tutorial that is over on SCS. The daisies in this set are always a pick me up for when someone is feeling down I think. I stamped 4 rows of the hearts all connected all the way across a sheet of Classic White cardstock. Colored the hearts with Copic collections Buttercup, Flesh Tones 1 and 2. Then I cut out each row of hearts and wrapped them around the tissue box. They are popped up on dimensionals and I only ended up using about 2 rows. So you will see later the cards I made with the extra hearts. ha ha Can't let all that coloring go to waste. :0)

This placemat and napkin ring has a story behind it. Before I get to the story I will give you the details. I used the Grand Caliber to make the placemat with Grand labels One. I sponged the white mat a bit which is why it looks darker than the rest. I added a few jewels and the sentiment. The napkin ring is using the heart of roses in the set. I wrapped it with a black band and ran the paper napkin through the loop.

Every Valentines day that DH and I have been together we always went to dinner or somewhere special. This is one of my favorite holidays. When the boys were born we were not really comfortable leaving the twins with anyone and we also wanted to share it with them. So I started to make a special dinner at home for all us. Mind you the first year with the boys was milk.. ha ha moving on... Then when the boys started getting older they started helping me in making the menu and table setting. There idea of a menu well has been interesting over the years, infact one year it was mac and cheese with chocolate pudding and sparkling cider. yep we ate it and made a big deal of how special it was. :0) However it has become one of our most cherished times together because we make valentines for each other open and share them at the dinner. I am hoping that when they get older and start to have girlfriends that they put as much thought into this day as we have over the years. It will surely win the hearts of any girl they date. Now if you are still awake after all that be sure to check out the fabulous creations from the DT:

Oh Stacy... how incredibly cute! (the story). We did that one year at our house and we made a menu and Cal was our "server" -- it was hysterical and was a Valentine's Day I'll never forget. I love both projects but the creativity in the placemat and napkin ring holder wins my vote as favorite!

I had so much fun making one of those kleenex covers for Christmas. This one is fabulous as well.

Just LOVE your family tradition for Valentine's Day :) Good for you for letting the kids in on choosing the menu too. Those will be memories they never forget and hopefully carry over into their families when they have them. You're a great mom :)
